She has played sweetheart to many leading men in India,but Bipasha Basu,who stars as a Maratha warrior in the Oscar-nominated filmmaker Roland Joffes Singularity,says that the period film is the ultimate romance of her career.
She gets to romance Hollywood star Josh Hartnett in the period film,which is set against the backdrop of the first Anglo-Maratha war in the 18th century colonial India.
It is beautiful and the crux of movie is a love story. I have not done too many of them but I am proud of being a part of the ultimate love story. There is romance in each frame and at the same time my character is very fiery and brave. Josh Hartnett and I have amazing chemistry, said the actress,who is currently busy with the promotions of Dum Maaro Dum. What is even more exciting is that she will be in the company of director Roland,best known for The Killing Fields and City Of Joy,Pearl Harbor star Hartnett and Chris Pine in the Orchha district of Madhya Pradesh.
For Bipasha,working on Singularity has been like being part of an acting school and the movie has also opened her eyes to international cinema.
