Three lakh Bihar officials from top asked to declare assets

Around three lakh Bihar govt officials have been directed to submit details by February 28.

Around three lakh Bihar government officials have been directed to submit details of their immovable and movable assets by February 28 that will be made public online.

Bihar General Administration Department (GAD) Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar said that the department on January 6 circulated a notice asking the officials from grade 1 to 3,excluding group 4 employees,to submit the details of their assets to their respective heads of department by February 28.

Kumar said the details of the assets would be placed on government websites. Under the exercise,all IAS,IPS,IFS officials would have to submit the property details to GAD,Home Department and Environment and Forests Department by end of next month.

This is for the second year that the government has issued the notification seeking details of properties of officials to maintain transparency and rein in corruption.

He said that heads of the department have been asked to disburse the February salary of these officials only after verifying that they have submitted the details of their assets within the stipulated period.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar,Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi and their 29 Cabinet colleagues have already declared their assets and the information which were put on the government websites on December 31 last year.

All the Principal Secretaries and Secretaries,Chairmen of state Public Sector Undertakings,Boards and autonomous bodies too have been asked to ensure strict adherence of the government circulars in this connection,Kumar said.
