Tharoor gets Cong ticket

Former UN Under Secretary General Shashi Tharoor will contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha election on a Congress ticket from Thiruvananthapuram.

Former UN Under Secretary General Shashi Tharoor will contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha election on a Congress ticket from Thiruvananthapuram. His name figured in the list of 16 candidates announced by the Congress on Thursday for Lok Sabha polls in Kerala.

Despite the talks in the Congress about giving priority to the youth in ticket distribution,NSUI national president Hibi Eden lost the race for Ernakulam Lok Sabha seat to K V Thomas,even though the young ticket aspirant was said to have the blessing of Rahul Gandhi. However,Meenakshi Natarajan,the AICC secretary attached to Rahul,was given the ticket from Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh.

The other candidates declared by the Congress today included Shanimol Usman from Kasaragod,K Sudhadaran from Kannur,M I Shanavas from Wayanad,M K Raghavan from Kozhikode,Satheesan Pacheri from Palakkad,N K Sudhir from Alathur,P C Chacko from Thrissur,K P Dhanapan from Chalakudy,P T Thomas from Idukki,K C Venugopal from Alappuzha,Kodikunnil Sur-esh from Mavelikkara,Anto Antony from Pathanamthitta,Pitambara Kurup from Kollam and G Balachandran from Attingal.
