Tata Motors sales up 12% in August

Tata Motors today reported 12 per cent increase in total sales at 71,826 units in August this year.

Tata Motors today reported 12 per cent increase in total sales at 71,826 units in August this year.

The company’s domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles for the month grew by 13 per cent to 67,453 units against 59,874 units in August last year.

Tata Motors commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 45,142 units in August 2012 compared to 43,045 units sold in August last year,up 5 per cent,it said in a statement.

Light commercial vehicle sales were at 30,461 units,a growth of 16 per cent from 26,344 units sold in August last year,it added.

Medium and heavy vehicle sales stood at 14,681 units,down 12 per cent from 16,701 units.

Passenger vehicles sales were higher by 33 per cent to 22,311 units against 16,829 units sold in the same month last year,it added.

Sales of the Nano were at 6,507 units,up over five-fold over 1,202 units in August last year.

The Indica range sales were higher by 5 per cent to 7,591 vehicles compared to 7,206 units sold in the same month last year.

The Indigo range recorded sales of 3,629 units,down 29 per cent against 5,100 units in the year-ago period.

The Sumo,Safari,Aria and Venture range sales were at 4,584 units in August,up 38 per cent from 3,321 units in the same month last year,the statement said.

The company’s exports in August increased by 4 per cent to 4,373 units from 4,204 units in the same month last year.
