Dominique Strauss-Kahn,the disgraced ex-chief of International Monetary Fund,has separated from his wife,journalist Anne Sinclair,according to news reports. French tabloids have speculated about strains on the couple and a possible split for months.

Sinclair asked Strauss-Kahn to leave the apartment a month ago, said Laurence Pieau,editor-in-chief of Closer,a tabloid whose website on Thursday evening published an article saying the couple had separated.
On Friday,Henri Leclerc and Frédérique Beaulieu,lawyers for Strauss-Kahn,announced in a statement that he and Sinclair would sue the magazine for invasion of privacy.
