Jharkhand Police are looking into whether Hyder Ali,a suspect in the Patna blasts case, using an alias occasionally occupied the room adjacent the one at Iram lodge where nine IEDs were found on Monday evening.
The identity proof he submitted at the lodge was a Voters Identity Card in the name of Salim, son of Kaleem of Ormanjhis Chakla village. There are four Kaleems in that village; none of them have a son by that name, said a police officer. Room number nine was registered in the name of Salim, but the photograph bears a resemblance to Hyder.
We have had people identifying the individual in the photograph as Hyder. It is being sent to the forensics department…, said Additional Director General of Police S N Pradhan.
Room eight, from where the IEDs were seized, was registered in the name of Mujibullah Ansari, who is absconding. Mujibullah (21) is from Ormanjhi on the outskirts of the city. He is a commerce graduate.
From interrogations,it is clear there are certain initiation rites to be passed for one to be a part of this group. We are not yet sure whether Mujibullah did so. Maybe he was just someone holding the bombs for Hyder, said a police officer.
He was a bright student. The family made sure the children got education…, said a relative who did not want to be named. Like many students,Mujibullah had rented a room for studies. He had been living there for about two years, preparing for the Bihar Public Service Commission some say the UPSC exams. He would come home often, a neighbour, who too did not want to be named, said.
Mujibullahs father Mohd Jabir Ansari was detained by police overnight. The family last saw the boy on October 19,when he left home after fighting with his father. He wanted Rs 10,000 to study and approached his mother. His father refused. After a prolonged argument, the boy packed his bags and left, said the relative.
His phone has been switched off since. A search did not reveal anything at the house. We did not get even a photograph of the boy from there. It looks like he took all his things when he left, said a police officer.
