It was Bollywoods answer to Londons Madame Tussauds. After Amitabh Bachchan,Hrithik Roshan,Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the statue of Bharat Bhushan, the protagonist of the Bheja Fry franchise was unveiled at PVR Cinemas,Phoenix Mills in Mumbai. While Sagar Ballary called it the substitute to Madame Tussauds, producer Mukul Deora called it a historical event as no other actor has had a statue in Mumbai.
Vinay Pathak, who plays Bharat Bhushan in Sagar Ballarys Bheja Fry and its sequel, along with the director, producer Mukul Deora and screenplay writer Sharat Kataria immortalised the character by installing its statue to kick off the promotion of the film.
Pathak was in his element and said,I am honoured that I have a statue right here while others have had to travel all over the world for theirs. He stated that while the eyes of the statue looked like his,the rest of the statue resembled one of his long-lost uncles.
He said that Deora was a good boss. The film has been shot in Singapore and Indonesias islands and virgin beaches. He added that while Bheja Fry was made in Rs 52 lakh,Bheja Fry 2 was made at a budget 20 times more.
While he informed that the statue was made by an artiste from Ghatkopar,Mukul stated that he was always keen on getting into films and this film seemed to be the right choice. Now the producer is gearing up for The White Tiger based on Aravind Adigas novel. It will take off next year.
Releasing on June 17,Bheja Fry 2 stars Vinay Pathak,Minissha Lamba,Kay Kay Menon,Suresh Menon and Amole Gupte.
