Nearly two years after it grabbed headlines for the theft of Gandhis spectacles the police is yet to find them Sevagram Ashram in Wardha,Maharashtra,is again caught in a storm. A woman has complained to the police that she was molested and threatened by fellow inmate Jalandhar Nath.

Nath, who has been arrested, was, also jailed in 2011 for biting the hand of another inmate,Vishweshwar Rao.

The woman alleged that Nath had assaulted her on February 28. She said he hit her on the face with a shoe following a quarrel, Police Inspector K I Mirza said. The quarrel started when he questioned her on what she had spoken with his nephew who had gone to give milk to her.

The ashrams secretary Vinod Swarup conceded the state of affairs at the ashram is very bad. Nath is known for short temper and has been involved in such quarrels in the past. What I know is that the two also had an argument over the missing spectacles of Gandhi. The Sadhika apparently said she knew about it and that angered Nath.

So why hasnt Nath been told to leave the ashram? I had proposed that but the management said lets not do it, Swarup claimed.

The ashrams president M M Gadkari could not be reached for comment.
