Resuming the hearing in the case between the Ambani brothers, the Supreme Court today again raised questions about the possibility of the two sides working out a suitable arrangement to resolve the gas dispute. The issue under the scheme is that there has to be a suitable agreement. If the agreement is not suitable, what can the court do? asked Justice R V Raveendran, who was part of the three-member bench led by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan.

The judge further questioned senior advocate Harish Salve appearing for Reliance Industries,What suitable arrangement you can make out or arrive at?

Reiterating that both RIL and RNRL must try and reach a negotiation,Justice Raveendran further observed,The only thing the court can do is to ask the parties to go for negotiation or refer the issue to an arbitrator to make out a suitable agreement. There must be parameters to arrive at a suitable agreement.
