Right Message
The notice board at the Railway Ministry which carries a new message every day rarely gets noticed. On Friday,however,it brought a smile to many faces. For,the message on the board was telling. Those who believe in rumours do not believe in themselves,it said. With the speculation surrounding Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedis future in the Rail Bhawan,the person responsible for selecting the messages could not have done a better job.
Cultural Change
The Culture Ministry is in the midst of a complete bureaucratic overhaul. Sangeeta Girhotra has recently taken charge as the new Secretary following the appointment of long-serving Secretary,Jawhar Sircar,as CEO of Prasar Bharati. The other top positions in the ministry are also awaiting new faces. Additional Secretary Rakesh Garg has already moved back to his parent cadre,Uttar Pradesh. His replacement is likely to be announced soon. Two Joint Secretaries,Vijay S Madan and Nihal Chand Goel,are also completing their terms at the end of this month.
Coalition on Camera
The CPM may be down but it is certainly not out. That is what the party leaders have been telling their friends in other political formations,as they try to keep alive the possibility of stitching together a non-Congress,non-BJP coalition. For those who need convincing,the party is ready with a CD that has the recording of its successful rally at Brigade Ground in Kolkata last month,that had attracted a huge crowd. Many political leaders have received this CD from their friends in the CPM.
