Conspiracy theorists are having a confounding time of it. No one is quite sure how Michael Jackson died,but when he lived there was no quite like him. The outpouring of public grief in the days that followed,captured non-stop on TV wakes,looked like mass hysteria in overdrive,but theres no doubt that with MJs passing,the world lost one of its greatest entertainers.
Moonwalker,which released in 1988,is out this week in India,just in time for MJs 51st anniversary. Watching the 91-minute dance drama is like going back in time. The time when Michaels colour was more brown than chalky white. When his moves were scorching dance floors across the globe. When there were no young boys,no scandal,no slow descent into becoming a myth: this was when MJ was all there.
Catch glimpses of Joe Pesci,Elizabeth Taylor and Mick Jagger. But the real act is firmly MJ,as he grows from Boy Wonder in the Jackson 5 band,to World Famous Popstar,ringlets,studded gloves,silver-metalled shoes,and all.
