Ranchi police have arrested seven boys for the rape of a girl,presumed to be a minor,in the Bundu area late on Tuesday night.
The girl is about 17 years old. We are awaiting a medical report,but circumstantial evidence strongly suggests rape, said Ranchis Senior Superintendent of Police Saket Kumar Singh. It is unclear if she was gangraped.
The girl was returning with two male friends after missing a train. They were accosted by the seven boys,college students aged 18-21,on the way. The accused drove away the girls friends,then took her into the jungle.
The boys informed us. We began a search at night and found her in the morning, said the SSP. The girl was reportedly found gagged.
