The EC on Monday announced a 24215;7,toll-free number linked to call centres in five states going to Assembly elections where voters can register complaints about any malpractice.
We have introduced,for the first time in India,a toll-free call centre to which citizens can directly connect and register their complaints, Chief election Commissioner SY Quraishi said here on Tuesday.
The call centres number is 1965 and it will be available round the clock,Quraishi said. People can call up if they notice any malpractice,violation of model code of conduct and misuse of official machinery.
The toll-free call centres will start functioning from Thursday,the CEC said. Complaints will be immediately registered and information passed on to district magistrates and SPs, he said.
