Photon Factory,run by director Gautham Vasudev Menon and his friend Madan,has acquired the all-India remake rights for the just-released Tamil movie Kalavani. Photon factory,which had co-produced several hit films like the Kamal Haasan starrer Vettaiyadu Vilayadu,Suriyas Khaakha Khaakha,the Venkatesh starrer Telugu film Gharashana,Pachaikili Muthusaram etc,is happy about acquiring the rights to remake the movie in all languages ( excluding Tamil). Directed by Sargunam,Kalavani,which tells the story of a callous guy,features Pasanga fame Vimal,Oviya,Ilavarasan and Saranya in lead roles. Music is by S S Kumaran. Photon Factory is currently involved in the making of movies like Veppam and Nadunisi Naaigal.
Ayan team back again
Leading production house AGS Entertainments,the makers of Thiruttu Payalae,Masilamani,Santosh Subramaniam,Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam and the recent hit Madrasapattinam,is all set to bring together the Ayan team once again.
Ayan,directed by cinematographer-turned-director K.V. Anand and with Suriya in the lead,was released last year and was a hit. So now,Anand and Suriya are to come together again for a yet-to-be-titled movie for AGS Entertainments. The rest of the cast,crew and technicians are being finalised. The big-budget film will go on the floors in February 2011.
Dream Theatres presents Muran
Director-actor-producer Cherans production house Dream Theatres is all set to start a new venture,Muran. The big-budget movie will star Cheran and Prasanna in lead roles and will have as heroines two newcomers. Jayaprakash will be playing a key role in the film.
A major highlight of the movie is that Rajjan Madhav,son of the late Malayalam music composer Raveendran,will be the director. Rajjan Madhav has worked as co-director to filmmaker Mysskin for Anjathae,Nandhalala and Yudhan Sei. Scoring music for Muran would be Rajjans brother Sajjan Madhav. Planned for release in January,2011,the film will go on floors soon and will wind up shooting by November. Story,screenplay,dialogues are also by Rajjan Madhav.
Shaji Kailas aborts Raghupathy …
Hit-making director Shaji Kailas has decided to shelve his Raghupathy Raghava Rajaram,the Prithviraj starrer that had started shooting in July 2009 and which had completed 17 days of shoot.
The decision to shelve the film was taken jointly by Shaji Kailas,the producer P.K.Muralidharan and scenarist A.K. Sajan,owing to budget-related problems. It was also revealed that there were date clashes in the first schedule of the films shoot. It should be remembered that the Producers Association had earlier asked Shaji Kailas to finish the film before going on to any other project. Now he will be directing his next for the same producer with Prithviraj as the hero and script by M.Sindhuraj.
K S Sethumadhavan bags award
Veteran filmmaker K S Sethumadhavan recently received the 17th K C Daniel memorial film award of the Kerala government in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Malayalam films in Thiruvananthapuram. Presenting the award with cash prize of one lakh and a citation,Chief Minister V. S .Achuthanandan stated that the film community in the state must unitedly face the issues troublingit and resolve them through dialogue.
Indian Panorama Fest in Kolhapur
A Three-day-long Indian Panorama Film Festival commenced in Kolhapur from July 29 at the Chhatrapati Shahu Smarak Bhavan. Malayalam director Jayaraj,Tripura-based director Joseph Pulinthanath,Bengali actor ProsenjIt and Marathi actor Nandu Madhav attended the inaugural ceremony. Some of the films shown at the festival were Vitthal (Marathi) by Vinoo Choliparambil and Shob Choritro Kalponik (Bengali) by Rituparno Ghosh.
