Producer Akshay Kumar Parija and director Prashanta Nanda are teaming up for a new Oriya film Thukool,shooting for which will reportedly kick off in Oman in October.

Thukool,which means ‘freeze’ in Oriya,is the second cinematic project from the team. Their first film,The Living Ghost,won seven state awards and enjoyed positive reviews when it premiered internationally last year.

Starting from early October,the pair plans to shoot,with the picturesque backdrops of Oman,over a period of two weeks. Popular tourist locations in Sur,Rimal al Sharqiya (Wahiba Sands),Wadi Shaab,Wadi Tiwi,and the capital’s marina have been identified as settings for the upcoming shoot.

Thukool is a love story bearing a significant relevance to Oman,said Ashok Suvarna,Executive Director,NPA Events,who will oversee the filming in Oman. “It will depict the healing power of dance. If all goes well,the film is programmed for an early January 2012 release,” Suvarna said.

Producer Akshay Parija said they want to capture the culture,beauty and landscapes of Oman and take it to all parts of the world through celluloid.

“I am happy that we will be commencing work on the project soon. We will also endeavour to accommodate local talents both in acting and technical areas,” he added.
