A nephew of Samajwadi Party MP from Fatehpur,Rakesh Sachan was booked for allegedly killing a 22-year-old electrician who had come to his flat in Kalyanpur police station area of Kanpur district on Saturday night to repair an AC.
While the police claimed electrician Mohammed Arif died after suffering an electric shock when connecting the electricity supply to the AC at the flat of Mayank Sachan,an MTech student at a private institute,Arifs family alleged that he was killed by Mayank and his two unidentified friends.
Kalyanpur station officer Anand Mishra said an FIR has been lodged against Mayank and two others based on the complaint of Arifs father Qamaruddin. He said the police had taken Mayank into custody and was questioning him.
Mishra said prima facie it has been found that Mayank had called Arif to his flat for repairing an AC. While repairing the AC,Arif suffered an electric shock and died,he said. Mishra said the post-mortem report revealed that Arif died of electric shock.
Arifs cousin Mohammed Amir said although the family was not sure of the reason behind the killing,Arif had developed a friendship with Mayank.
The MP could not be reached for comment despite several attempts.
