Messi in Mumbai today: Traffic police announces road diversions, restrictions

There will be no parking on Veer Nariman Road and Dinshaw Vachcha road.

Mumbai traffic police issued an advisory on Saturday, warning of large crowds and heavy traffic between 12 pm and 11 pm in South Mumbai on Sunday in view of football superstar Lionel Messi’s visit to the city.

As there will be road diversions and parking restrictions, traffic police have advised motorists to use public transport such as local trains and Metro.

DCP South (Traffic) Prashant Pardeshi has announced a series of traffic diversions and restrictions from 12 pm to 11 pm on Sunday.

There will be no parking on Veer Nariman Road and Dinshaw Vachcha road. D road will be one-way (from west to east) for vehicles from its junction at NS Road (Marine Drive) towards the junction of E & C road. E road will be one-way (south-bound) for all vehicles from the junction of D road towards the C road junction. Veer Nariman Road (south-bound) from Churchgate Junction to E road, which is a restricted access road, will remain open for traffic.

* As many roads will be closed to traffic, alternative routes have been planned for motorists such as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose road (north-bound). Air India junction to Mafatial junction will be closed for all types of vehicles. There will an alternative route from Ramnath Poddar Chowk (Godrej junction)-Maharshi Karve road-Ahilyabal Holkar Chowk (Chuchgate junction)-Marine Lines-Charni road-Pandit Paluskar Chowk (Opera House).

* Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose road (south-bound) from Princess Street Bridge to Air India junction will be closed for all vehicles. Motorists can use Pandit Paluskar Chowk (Opera House)-Maharshi Karve road-Charni Road Marine Lines-Ahilyabai Holkar Chowk (Chuchgate junction)-Ramnath Poddar Chowk (Godrei Junction) to proceed to their destination.

* Coastal road (south-bound) Worli, from Tardeo to Marine Drive, will be closed to traffic. Motorists can take Haji Ali junction-Peddar road-Pandit Paluskar Chowk (Opera House)-Maharshi Karve road-Charni road-Marine Lines-Ahilyabai Holkar Chowk (Chuchgate junction)-Ramnath Poddar Chowk (Godrej junction) to proceed to their destination. From Princess Street Bridge take a left turn to Shamaldas Gandhi Marg-Vardhaman Chowk and proceed to desired destination.

* Coastal road (north-bound) from Marine Drive to Worli, Tardeo will be closed for all types of vehicles. Motorists can take Ramnath Poddar Chowk (Godrej junction-Maharshi Karve road-Ahilyabai Holkar Chowk (Chuchgate Junction)-Marine Lines-Charni road-Pandit Paluskar Chowk (Opera House)-Peddar road-Haji All Junction to proceed to their destination.
