NDRF officer faces probe for refusing order during rescue

The National Disaster Response Force has ordered a Court of Inquiry against an officer for disobeying instructions

The National Disaster Response Force has ordered a Court of Inquiry against an officer for disobeying instructions during a rescue operation in in Sonprayag.

The commandant who was on deputation from ITBP has since been repatriated to his parent force. It will be premature to say if the officer shirked his duty or disobeyed commands. The inquiry will find out the exact chain of communication between the command and the officer. The officer has been given a chance to explain his side, a home ministry official said.

Meanwhile,a week after the helicopter crash,two ITBP personnel who were among the 20 people on board are yet to be found. An ITBP team has been searching for Bassavaraj Yaragatti of Karnataka and Ahir Rao Ganesh of Maharashtra since the June 25 crash.

In a related development,forensic experts Monday identified the charred bodies of seven of the ITBP personnel killed in the crash.
