On a day a court in Hyderabad extended YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddys judicial remand by two more weeks, his mother urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to direct the CBI,which she alleged was harassing her son,to follow the rule book.
In a letter to Singh,Y S Vijayalakshmi alleged that every available law enforcing agency is being unleashed to stall the freedom of movement and expression of Jagan. The Andhra Pradesh government, she added, and the investigation agencies have unleashed vindictive methodology against Jagan by freezing the bank accounts of his Sakshi media group.
The intention is very much visible political conspiracy and harassment, she wrote. The CBI,she pointed out, started its probe against Jagan nine months ago but never called him for questioning until just before the all important bypolls in Andhra.
Keeping Jagan away from people, that too when political opponents have been taking undue advantage of his absence during campaigning,is unfair and the CBI,which works under your governance, should be admonished for its wanton functioning, she said.
She also rejected allegations that Jagan influenced the Y S Rajasekhara Reddy government to issue orders that favoured him.
