What brings you back to television?
Well, one is the concept of Big Money, which has the entire family participating in it. We are a family-oriented nation and it will be fun to see how a family reacts under pressure to win the prize money of a crore. Secondly,it is produced by Siddharth Basu, whom I have always admired.

What is the show all about?
It is a quiz show related to TV programmes,be it soaps, ads, cartoons, any and everything that appears on the small screen. This way it narrows it down but at the same time it includes all of them because everyone watches TV.

How would you fare in such a show?
Very badly, because the only thing I watch on TV is news (laughs).

The last show you hosted,Deal Ya No Deal, didn’t cut any deal with the viewers..
That show absolutely didn’t match my dates. They kept changing the sets and dates, which is why I had to quit.

You have no apprehensions this time
No,I am sure about that. They won’t take too many days. It’s all sorted out.

Have you started shooting for the show?
No,I will be shooting for it from June 12.

How has the television scenario changed since the time you were a part of it?
It has become extremely powerful. You have sansani news, entertainment – everything,it has become all-encompassing. It’s become a man’s best friend.

The TV actors of your era are still remembered..
True, but that time there were fewer channels. Also, what we did was not half as good as serials like Hum Log that were aired on Doordarshan, the only channel that existed then. The lesser the number of channels, the more is the impact.

What is happening on your film front?
Tanu Weds Manu is almost ready and I will soon be going to Europe to shoot for a Tamil film with Kamal Haasan.

Are you doing Vashu Bhagnani’s Faltu?
I am just trying to figure it out. It is getting more and more complicated because the dates are clashing with the Tamil film.
