The Maoists have resolved to embark on a definitive plan to counter Operation Greenhunt with attacks on non-co-operative politicians from their areas of influence, penetration into the government intelligence agencies and cadre recruitment from urban slums being some of the measures to do that.
According to highly-placed sources,CPI Maoist Central Committee is passing on diktats to partymen from time to time this year as is gleaned from the documents seized during raids and action at various places in the country. These are being shared with the affected states as alerts.
Not taking the government offensive complacently, the Maoist leadership is alive to the needs of the changed times.
So,they have told their cadre to make inroads into the government intelligence-gathering machinery and have also formed their own intelligence wing which they are calling Peoples Security Service, sources further said. They have asked the cadre to target politicians in the areas, where their writ runs,if they dont co-operate, they said.
A senior official said,Naxals generally refrain from attacking politicians because they know the politicians would be soft on them as long as they politicians are not affected. Even in Andhra Pradesh,it was only after the deadly attack on the then chief minister Chandrababu Naidu a few years ago that the state government went hammer and tongs against the Left-wing extremist. Naxals suffered heavy damage in the process. Since then, they had avoided targeting politicians. But now that all state government and Centre have launched a broadside against them,it would be difficult for the generally co-operative local politicians to help them and Naxals may not hesitate to target them.
They have also called for creation of more regional inter-state company dalams by getting more local militia armed villagers, generally members of area rakshak and gram rakshak dals on board.
