A group of Chinese port workers had a providential escape here Tuesday when a bomb targeting their vehicle did not go off as planned,just a day before the arrival of Premier Li Keqiang in Pakistan.
Police said a major tragedy was averted by good fortune in the posh Clifton area when the remote-controlled IED aimed at a van carrying the 11 Chinese workers failed to detonate.
Police also discovered some 11 homemade bombs in a shop which was damaged after one of the IEDs went off accidentally on Tuesday afternoon.
