Lokayukta appointee had met Anna

Justice Retd R A Mehta,who has been appointed as the Lokayukta by the Gujarat Governor,was elevated to the high court as additional judge in 1983 and was subsequently confirmed in 1984. He was also the acting Chief Justice for around 10 months in 1995-96. He retired in May 1998. Incidentally,when Anna Hazare recently visited Ahmedabad,Justice Mehta,who has been involved in social issues since retirement,was seen with him. Some of the prominent judgments during his tenure in the high court were on socially relevant issues like manual scavenging,juvenile justice and women rights.
