Lightning strike causes cell phone to explode

Two herdsmen suffered burn injuries after two mobile phones kept in one of their pockets exploded when lightning struck them while they were out in the fields,police said here today.

Two herdsmen suffered burn injuries after two mobile phones kept in one of their pockets exploded when lightning struck them while they were out in the fields,police said here today.

Rajkumar Meena 18 and Ghanshyam Meena 25 were grazing their cattle in a field in Aatuan village when two mobile phones,kept in one of their shirt pockets,exploded after lightning struck them last evening.

Both the youths received minor burn injuries in the incident,they said.

The cellphones were reported to be a Chinese-make. According to eyewitnesses who rushed to the spot,the duo were found in a semi-conscious state with scattered pieces of the exploded mobile handsets,Budadeet police station SHO Dhirendra Singh said.

Sultanpur community health centre chief medical officer Dr S D Sharma said the youths were treated in the hospital for burn injuries on stomach and feet. They were later discharged,he said.
