AP Cong suspends ex-NSUI chief
HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Congress on Sunday expelled former state president of NSUI Ch Vamsichand Reddy from the party for a period of six years for indulging in gross indiscipline and anti-party activities. Vamsichand allegedly sent out SMSes on January 7 asking party cadres to attack Reliance outlets in the state even before some Telugu TV channels aired a speculative story on former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddys helicopter crash.
Peace International honours Jaswant
LONDON: Former External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh,who was expelled from the BJP for eulogising Pakistan founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah in his book,has been bestowed with the title Ambassador of Peace for South Asian region. Peace International,a London-based organisation,conferred the honour on Singh for his efforts to establish peace in South Asia. President of Peace International Javed Raja presented Singh with a shawl during a function held at the London Hilton Hotel on Friday evening.
Mother,son held for cheating flat seekers
MUMBAI: A 50-year-old woman,her son and another person were arrested for allegedly cheating over 30 people by promising them government-run MHADA flats on cheaper rates. The trio Anruadha Jadhav,her son Ajinkya 25 and their accountant Ramesh Gangan 66 absconding for the past 10 months,were arrested from suburban Mulund on Saturday,police said.
Maoist leader held with Rs 18 lakh
PATNA: A Maoist was arrested from the Kankarbagh area here and Rs 18 lakh recovered from him,police said on Sunday. The Special Task Force of Bihar police assisted by the Patna police carried out a raid and captured Dwivendu Kumar Singh alias Subodh alias Anand,member of the Special Area Committee of the proscribed CPIMaoist last night,DSP STF P K Sinha said.
