Land taxing issue for investors: Japan MP

Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of Japan’s House of Representatives Katsuyuki Kawai raised concerns

Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of Japan’s House of Representatives Katsuyuki Kawai raised concerns about the investment scenario in India, and has asked the Indian government to take remedial measures to attract more investment.

Kawai claimed several Japanese companies had raised concerns about the tax and accounting system in India and were facing problems in purchasing land for projects in the country.

“A lot of Japanese companies have raised concerns over the tax and accounting system in India. The land purchasing process for investors is disastrous and the government needs to address these issues,” Kawai said.

Kawai is heading a delegation of Japanese parliamentarians on a tour of South Asian countries.
