On a day when Opposition legislators in the Bihar Assembly created a ruckus,RJD’s Lalu Prasad and LJP’s Ram Vilas Paswan on Wednesday attacked the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government, addressing separate press conferences at their residences in the Capital.

“Why did the Bihar government not take any action when the CAG report pinpointed the irregularities in 2006 itself. Nitish Kumar talked about good governance and claimed to be a clean Chief Minister. He should leave the chair till a CBI inquiry into the episode is completed,” Prasad told reporters.

A few hours earlier,LJP chief Paswan had said,“If Nitish Kumar is clean, why is he afraid of a CBI inquiry? Why is he saying he will get it reviewed? Why is he going to file an appeal (against the Patna High Court recommending CBI inquiry into the alleged financial irregularities)?”

Attacking Kumar, the RJD chief reminded how the latter was made party to the fodder scam case because he was considered to be aware of the irregularities as the chief minister after CAG had submitted its report to him. He pointed out that the RJD was demanding a CBI inquiry into the present case despite the fact that the period in question (2002-08) included the three years of his wife Rabri Devi’s tenure (2002-05) as chief minister.

Both the leaders demanded Kumar’s resignation.

However,a lack of coordination between the two was obvious. While Paswan said they would petition the President to impose Central rule in the state,Lalu said he was “not going to Rashtrapati Bhavan”.

In another departure from the script, while Paswan alleged that slippers could have been hurled by BJP members at the Bihar Speaker,Lalu said he won’t comment since he wasn’t present in the House.
