Congress MP Dr Karan Singh has added to the raging controversy over opening of a Central university in Jammu and Kashmir by suggesting that the varsity be opened at Bhaderwah, home town of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. Singh said Bhaderwah was most suited for the purpose,as the construction of Bhaderwah-Chamba road would open new vistas of development in Doda district. For over a month now, students in Jammu have been boycotting classes seeking the varsity be opened at Samba. Both the BJP and Panthers Party have voiced their opposition to the setting up of a Central university in Kashmir.

BJP a Private Ltd firm: former partyman

Jaswant Singhs expulsion has given BJP rebel and now a Congress leader,Prof Hari Om,an opportunity to speak against the saffron party. The former BJP spokesperson termed the party a private limited company and a sinking ship which has drifted away from its core ideology due to the overarching influence of power hungry leaders within it. Prof Hari Om said the BJP was abandoning its ideology in a systematic manner. He said that he agrees with BJP leader Arun Shourie that the party only promotes a select group of people. He also blamed the BJP for discriminating against Jammu region, saying that in 2002 the party supported an anti-Jammu amendment to the the Representation of the People Act that banned delimitation of the Assembly constituencies.
