Kanpur rape: Principal held for destroying evidence

THE CB-CID on Monday arrested Santosh Kumar Singh,officiating principal of Bharti Gyan Sthali School,Kanpur,for destruction of evidence,culpable homicide,and other charges in the case of the September 27 death of class VI student Divya Singh after sexual assault in the school. Singh was summoned to CB-CID office for questioning and then placed under arrest.

The police have already chargesheeted the schools owner,Chandra Pal Verma,and his two sons,Piyush and Sudhir alias Mukesh. Investigation has shown that Piyush had assaulted Divya during recess,which led to her death from blood loss and shock. His father and brother had tried to destroy evidence and mislead the investigation.
