Private carrier Jet Airways today said it has entered into a code share arrangement with South African Airways to offer seamless travel to South Africa-bound passengers.
The code share agreement comes into effect from April 18,a Jet Airways release said here.
Code-sharing allows an airline to book its passengers on its partner carriers and provide seamless transport to multiple destinations where it has no presence.
Under the arrangement,Jet Airways will code share on South African Airways8217; flights between Mumbai and Johannesburg and beyond to Cape Town and Durban,the release said.
Similarly,South African Airways will code share on Jet Airways8217; operations between Mumbai and Delhi and beyond to Bangalore,Hyderabad,Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram,it said.
Besides,the agreement also provides for redemption of miles accrued under the loyalty programmes of the two carriers,it added.
Commenting on the code share,Jet Airways Chief Commercial Officer Sudheer Raghavan said,8221;We are confident that this mutually beneficial code share will prove extremely popular with both business and leisure travellers.8221;
8220;The agreement further supports the objectives of the BRICS member states. It will help meet the high demand for air travel between India8217;s large business hubs and South Africa,8221; South African Airways8217; acting General Manager commercial Manoj Papa said.
The additional connectivity between Southern Africa and India as a result of this code share agreement will help strengthen tourism and trade ties between the two countries,he said. PTI IAS GK TVS 04161735
