While terror was the main theme of US Secretary of State Hillary Clintons meeting with Leader of Opposition L K Advani here on Monday, the visiting dignitary also wanted to know about the BJPs less-than-impressive show in the general elections of 2009.

Recalling the BJP-led NDA governments contribution towards improving Indo-US ties, the Advani-Hillary meeting revolved around terror, with Advani referring to the recent India-Pakistan joint statement, which,he said, compromised national consensus in fighting Pakistan-sponsored terror.

Advani is learnt to have said that while the issue was one between the ruling alliance and the Government of the day,his party did not agree with the shift in the joint statement, with Pakistan getting an upper hand. Advani conveyed to the US dignitary to try and impress on Pakistan to act on terror infrastructure on its soil, said a BJP leader.

All political parties here were one after 26/11 that till Pakistan takes strong measures there cannot be further progress. This joint statement has tried to break this national consensus, said BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, quoting Advani. Advani also raised objections over the inclusion of Balochistan in the joint statement.

The two leaders also recalled the BJP-led governments contribution in the upswing in the India-US ties. As for the BJPs performance in the general elections,Advani said it was all part and parcel of the game.
