Hurriyat leader Yasmeen Raja released: Sources

Yasmeen was arrested on the 26th of October 2010 under Public Safety Act.

Chairperson of Muslim Khawateen Markaz (MKM),who is also the chief of the women’s wing of moderate Hurriyat Conference,has been released after nearly five months of detention on the directions of the High Court here,official sources said.

Yasmeen Raja,who was arrested on the 26th of October 2010 under Public Safety Act (PSA),was released from Central Jail Srinagar last evening,the sources said. She was released after the High Court quashed her detention.

Welcoming the release of its leader,the Hurriyat also urged the government to release other political detainees lodged in various jails.

Over 200 persons including around four dozen separatist leaders were arrested by the authorities under PSA following the last summer’s unrest in the Valley.
