The Delhi High Court on Monday issued a notice to the Delhi Police on the bail applications of four accused,including senior BJP leader and former deputy prime minister L K Advanis former aide Sudheendra Kulkarni and two former BJP MPs,for their alleged complicity in the cash-for-vote scam.
A single-judge Bench of Justice M L Mehta sought the polices response by November 14 on the bail applications of Kulkarni,former BJP MPs Faggan Singh Kulaste,Mahabir Singh Bhagora who along with another party MP had waved bundles of cash in the Lok Sabha and alleged BJP activist Suhail Hindustani.
The court also sought a status report from the police by the next date of hearing.
The four accused had approached the High Court challenging the order of the trial court dismissing their bail applications.
In the petition before the High Court,Kulkarni claimed he,along with the BJP MPs,got involved in the sting operation,conducted by a private news channel,only to expose the horse-trading going on to save the then UPA-I government in the vote of trust in the Lok Sabha on July 22,2008.
BJP MP Ashok Argal,another accused in the case,also moved the Delhi High Court,seeking anticipatory bail. His application is likely to come up for hearing on Tuesday.
