Amidst speculation of his return to the Congress,K Muraleedharan on Wednesday said he had learnt his lessons. The former Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee KPCC president and son of veteran Congress leader K Karunakaran was speaking at Kerala House after receiving a copy of a book on his father by Minister for State for Agriculture K V Thomas.
I think this war of rival Congress groups will soon end, because those for whom the war was fought have achieved what they wanted. They are the new respectable people around, he said. He refused to say more and,in a lighter vein, said it was time for being disciplined,a reference to the party diktat that his return would be considered if he would behave himself.
Muraleedharan had resigned from the post of state president of the NCP in August this year with the intention of returning to the Congress, which he had quit in 2004. Ente Leader My Leader, the seventh book written by K V Thomas, was released by Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi. The meeting was also attended by Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor and several MPs from Kerala.
Thomas admitted that the book was the first he had started but stopped due to difference of opinion with Karunakaran, whose camp he left in 2004. The Karunkaran family has always treated me as one of them. Murali is like a brother. In fact,my inclusion in the 2001 state Cabinet was due to his and Padmajas Karunakarans daughter insistence.
