The security of Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs M S Gill has been upgraded to Z category from Y. The decision was taken on Thursday following a review of his threat perceptions done by the Intelligence Bureau. Under the Z category,Gill will now have an escort driver,a commando and a security in-charge. Official sources said Gills enhanced security will remain till the Games are over and after that it would be reviewed.
This has been done primarily keeping in mind the important role that the minister will play during the Games, a police officer said on condition of anonymity.
