District Consumer Forum today sentenced a Ghaziabad Development Authority secretary to six months imprisonment for not giving possession of a house to its allotee for 14 years.
Forum Chairman Arun Kumar also imposed a fine of Rs 5000 on GDA secretary Narendra Kumar,a senior PCS officer, and directed the Ghazibad SSP to arrest him.
Vishnu Dutt Dimri,a resident of Nehru Place in New Delhi, had filed a complaint with the Forum alleging that the GDA had alloted him an LIG house in Indira Puram in 1997 but its possession was not given to him. In December 1997,the forum directed the GDA to give the possession of the house to Vishnu.
Even though, the allottee had made the full payment of the house, the GDA approached the State Commission of Consumer Forum, the High Court and the Supreme Court against the order of the district consumer forum.
However,no relief was given to GDA by any court or the forum and at last the Ghaziabad Consumer Forum decided the matter and held the secretary guilty.
