Car maker Ford India said it has started exports of its small car Figo and sedan Fiesta to Nepal and will open a dealership in the Himalayan nation on Sunday.
“We are proud to celebrate the opening of Nepal’s newest Ford dealership. We are excited to bring volume products like the Ford Figo and Ford Fiesta to the Nepalese market,” Ford (India) President and Managing Director Michael Boneham said in a statement.
The new outlet — GO Ford — will also introduce sports utility vehicle Everest and pick up truck Ranger, which will be imported from Thailand.
Nepal is Figo’s second export market after South Africa, where 7,000 vehicles are being sent.
The company has sold over 50,000 units of the small car so far, since its launch in India in March.
Since its launch in in India in 2005,the Fiesta has recorded sales of over one lakh units.
“We are confident that these vehicles will generate the same passion and interest from consumers in Nepal,as they have in India,” Boneham said.
