In line with Mamata Banerjees Rail Budget announcement,Indian Railways will launch its first Duronto non-stop superfast end-to-end train between Sealdah and New Delhi from Sealdah in West Bengal on September 18. The buzz is that Banerjee may travel on the inaugural run of this train.
The 2259/2260 Sealdah-Delhi Duronto will be fully air-conditioned,fully reserved,bi-weekly train covering the 1,454 km distance between Sealdah and New Delhi in around 16-and-a-half hours one-and-a-half hours less than the corresponding Rajdhani train running on the same route. The fare will include the cost of meals.
The train will have one AC-I coach,three AC-II coaches,four AC-III coaches and five economy AC-III Coaches besides a pantry and a generator car. With the launch of this Duronto,a new AC travel class called Economy AC-III is also making its debut.
In the Sealdah-New Delhi sector,this train on its regular run will leave Sealdah every Thursday and Sunday at 6.40 pm and reach Delhi the next day at 11.00 am. In the reverse direction,the train on its regular run will leave New Delhi station every Friday and Monday at 8.05 pm and reach Sealdah the next day at around 12.25 pm. The second Duronto train,between Chennai and Nizamuddin,will be flagged-off by Union Home Minister P Chidambram from Chennai on September 18.
