A former Special Police Offier in Udhampur district climbed a mobile tower on Thursday,to protest his termination by the Jammu and Kashmir government last year.
Rattan Lal,40,was disbanded along with 30 others for allegedly going on strike, along with their weapons,to press for their demand of regularisation of their services. The police had filed a case against them in this regard.
The SPOs have, for the last few days, been sitting on dharna at Rani Park in Ramnagar town, demanding that the government rescind their termination and the police withdraw the FIR. Lal climbed the tower seeking assurance from Udhampurs deputy commissioner that he would fulfil their demands. The deputy commissioner did not visit the site.
