Exhibition to inspire feelings of pride for IAF

The three-day event 8216;Flight of Glory8217;,a combination of an exhibition and screening of documentaries on IAF,was organised by the Indian Air Force to commemorate its 80 years of existence at the Select City Walk,a mall in South Delhi.

The event,which ended last night,also served as a platform to inspire youngsters to join the IAF. A 8216;Know your IAF Recruitment Drive8217; s tall was put up besides screening of IAF movie shows.

The youth had the opportunity to interact with the counsellors and get enlightened on how 8220;They Can Make a Difference,8221; the motto of IAF.

Consolidated B-24J Liberator bomber,Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and North American TP-51C Mustang were among the models displayed at the exhibition and reflected India8217;s strength to touch the sky with glory.

The stalls selling IAF souvenirs,books and memorabilia also attracted scores of customers.

What stole the show was an IAF themed gaming arcade.

8220;It feels amazing to bring my kids here so that they can witness the glory of IAF from such close quarters,8221; said an elated visitor,Rakesh.

People connected to Indian Air Force found enjoyment in watching a photo montage of 30 illuminated panels showing IAF celebrating the past,working the present and preparing for the future.

8220;The performances by the Air Warrior drill team brought back all the cherish able memories to my mind,8221; said a nostalgic retired official of IAF.

The elite team of air warriors performed complex drill manoeuvres with classic World War II vintage rifles affixed with bayonets,each weighing 5.5 kg and left the audience awestruck.
