The police have launched a hunt for a former Bajrang Dal activist after two bombs kept in his house went off on Sunday, injuring one person who was working in the backyard.
Ravi Yadav told his family members that he was taking the injured person for treatment to a local hospital, but went missing after the police landed at his house along with a bomb disposal squad. The police also recovered two weapons and live cartridges from the house of the 25-year-old who has also faced a string of criminal cases, including rape and attempt to murder.
Investigating Officer Daulatsingh Gurjar told The Indian Express that the low intensity bombs were home-made and appeared to be old. The bomb disposal squad has collected samples of the bombs that had not fully exploded.
Yadavs family members maintained that they did not have any idea what was going on in their backyard where milch animals were kept. They said that Yadav had engaged one Ramsingh to clean the backyard and that the bombs went off accidentally. Yadavs father lives at the familys farm and expressed ignorance about his sons activities.
A case under the Explosives Act and the Arms Act has been registered against Yadav, who the police said could have been associated with the Bajrang Dal in the past but was no longer active.
