His knee pain is palpable, and he has an action sequence to perform. His double,Riyaz is also there, but Shah Rukh Khan prefers doing the stunt himself. We are on the sets of Ra.One,where the final shoot of the film is taking place. Director Anubhav Sinha is monitoring the shot. The set is a platform constructed in the centre of shed number six of Filmistan Studios in suburban Mumbai. The backdrop is a blue cloth known as a chroma key.
A blue screen or chroma key recording is a shooting technique whereby the subject is shot against a cloth background, and later changes are made to the background during editing. The background can be replaced with an image,a video or an animation. Light photo studio lamps and white translucent photo umbrellas are used to reflect the light.
At the cue of 8216;Action8217; long ceiling ropes pull up the rear wheels of the bike, tilting SRK who does a somersault in the air, landing on a soft base. The first few shots appear to be painful for the actor but he soon gets the hang of it. After a few takes,he gives a perfect shot and everyone promptly claps. We did request him to use a double but he insisted on doing the stunt himself, says Sinha.
There is a rustle of activity as Khan steps down from the platform to watch himsef on the monitor. He is happy to have pulled off the stunt himself.
