DJ Shadia performs

International Jazz amp; Blues artiste Diane Witherspoon made her Indian debut at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai on August 28.

Diane,along with her accomplished band members Mint on the saxophone,Bhudinant Mod on piano,Lester C Esteban on drums and Teerawat Tunboot on bass presented a swinging collection of jazz pieces such as The very thought of you and L.A. after dark.

Speaking on the occasion,Khushroo N Suntook,Chairman,NCPA,said,The NCPA is becoming a preferred destination for many international performers. We take immense pride in presenting Ms Witherspoon to Mumbai. You will see jazz feature more prominently in our future programmes.

Originally from Minneapolis,Minnesota and now residing in Los Angeles,singer,composer and producer Diane Witherspoon began singing as a child along with eight siblings,and often performed in her church choir. She attended Saint Olaf College and the University of Minnesota. She has taught music and conducted workshops for students in California public schools and in Tokyo.
