Seen on: Friday to Saturday,9.30 pm,Zee TV
When one season of Dance India Dance wraps up,I usually cant wait for the next to begin. So when the second season ended recently and Zee brought in DID Superstars with a few participants from seasons 1 and 2 pitted against each other, one hoped for more magic. And with popular dancers like Dharmesh Sir,Prince,Mayuresh and Siddhesh featuring in the show it looked good on paper. Alas, two episodes down, one realised it was too much of a good thing. Déjà vu!
A new host,Manish Paul, takes over from Jay Bhanushali while Shiamak Davar gets into Mithun Chakrabortys seat. Remo DSouza, who had taken a detour of sorts with Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa,joins Davar. The camaraderie, which is usually seen between the co-hosts and the mentors Geeta Kapoor and Co. and Chakraborty,is sorely missing. Davar,at places, even looks disinterested whereas DSouza is well, whatever, been there done that. So much so,that now when he stands up and says his trademark line Now,thats what you call a performance! you try hard to stifle a yawn.
So then its left to the contestants to crackle the show and barring Dharmesh and Prince their jugalbandi was a treat, alright,Siddhesh and Mayuresh, the rest dont quite make the cut. Maybe, its fatigue watching the same routine locking, popping, freestyle, contemporary etc etc its all coming out of our ears maybe we need a good break. Maybe,a year long gap between two seasons is needed after all. Agreed, its not a new season but only a battle of the participants of the earlier seasons, yet something is missing for sure.
Verdict:
Watch it if you are still not tired of the routine.
