Court notice to V K Singh on plea against bail

Issuing notice to V K Singh,Metropolitan Magistrate Thareja fixed the matter for arguments on December 9.

A Delhi court on Thursday issued notice to former Army chief V K Singh to respond to a plea filed by retired Lt General Tejinder Singh,who has sought cancellation of bail granted to him in a criminal defamation case filed against him and four other senior Army officials.

In the application filed before the court on Monday,Tejinder Singh had alleged that V K Singh,in his autobiography,made defamatory accusations against him despite an earlier order by Metropolitan Magistrate Jay Thareja who,had warned him against making such remarks,saying it would lead to cancellation of his bail.

“Despite the aforesaid order dated October 3,2013 passed by this court,the accused repeated defamatory accusations and remarks against the complainant on page numbers 308,309,310 and 330,331 and 332 of his autobiography titled Courage and Conviction: General V K Singh… and released in the second week of November,” said the plea filed through advocate Anil Aggarwal.

Tejinder had last year filed a criminal defamation case against V K Singh,the then Vice Chief of Army S K Singh,retired Lt Gen B S Thakur,Major General S L Narshiman and Colonel Hitten Sawhney over a press release issued by the the Army implicating Tejinder of corruption in the Tatra trucks deal.

Issuing notice to V K Singh,Metropolitan Magistrate Thareja fixed the matter for arguments on December 9.
