The war of words between alliance partners Trinamool Congress and Congress intensified further Saturday with Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh,during a visit to Junglemahal,said the Congress has not taken VRS Voluntary Retirement Scheme in West Bengal.
It is a political party and it has every right to hold rallies, he said,replying to questions from reporters on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjees reported anger over a Congress procession in Kolkata on Friday against Trinamool atrocities in rural belts.
Rameshs remark came a day before a panchayati raj convention in Kolkata in which several Congress leaders will be present. Apart from Ramesh,Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Shakeel Ahmed,AICC representative in-charge of West Bengal,will attend the meet that will highlight Central funding in rural schemes.
On Saturday,Ramesh toured various villages in West Midnapore district to ascertain implementation of the Centres Integrated Action Plan Aid scheme.
