Children cheered and even adults joined in as legendary cartoon characters Tom and Jerry held their 70th birthday bash at Le Meridien last week in Delhi. Organised by Cartoon Network India,the party had artistes in the cartoon costumes dancing to Hindi tunes and attempting bhangra moves for the audience.Created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbara,the cat and mouse duo has been entertaining children and adults alike since 1940. One of the adult fans present was cartoonist Sudhir Tailang. Ive drawn political cartoons all my life but Ive always wanted to create characters such as Tom and Jerry. I am drawn to them especially because it is a story of the underdog and how he triumphs each time, he said. To the toons in the party,he asked,What keeps you so young? They mimed an answer A lot of exercise and running around.The highlight of the day was the Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Cartoon Network to Tom and Jerry for their contribution to childrens happiness. There was also a big yellow cheesy birthday cake that everybody got a piece of. Seen at the event were socialite mothers such as Tanisha Mohan and her children,Kalyani Chawla with her daughter,designers Nandita and Hemant and entrepreneur Monisha Bajaj. Boogie Woogie is back on SonyBoogie Woogie,the pioneering dance talent hunt on Indian television,is all set to make a comeback on Sony in May. The show,which had taken a break last November,will start with the kids championship. The show judged by Javed Jafferi,Naaved and Ravi Behl was launched 13 years ago and has been one of the most popular shows of the channel along with their detective series CID. Salman Khan approached to judge Zara Nachke DikhaSalman Khan,Preity Zinta,Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan were approached to judge Zara Nach Ke Dikha. According to sources,Salman was keen on being a part of it and even sought permission from Sony,on which he is hosting 10 Ka Dum. Sony too had agreed but the rider was that Zara Nachke.. should air only after 10 Ka Dum,which is scheduled later this year,while Zara Nach. will go on air immediately after IPL. Meanwhile,theres a frantic hunt going on for the hosts. Sana Irani of Miley Jab Hum Tum was shortlisted but apparently shes quite thanda. Ayushman Khurana is another likely candidate ,but he is currently busy hosting IPL. And so the search continues. Aamir Khan on TV?Time and again there are reports of Aamir Khan hosting or judging a TV show. The latest is that he will be hosting KBC 4 but according to sources there are slim chances of the 3 Idiots star doing it. Apparently,Sony had approached the star earlier for Lift Kara De but he had refused. No doubt Aamirs TV debut is eagerly awaited, but this Khan is yet to bite the bullet. Teaching tarot readingMunisha Khatwani recently did an episode for Zee Cinemas Lady Raaj,wherein she taught tarot card reading to viewers and spoke about the history of the art of fortune-telling. It was interesting as it was something different. I taught the audience basic tarot instead of predictions. Apart from this,she is doing her regular show Teen Deviyan,which has completed three years. Soon the tarot reader is planning to travel to the far east.I feel I need a break and want to enjoy for a bit. Kerala cuisine to feature on Discovery ChannelThe mouth-watering spicy cuisine of Gods Own Country Kerala is set to be featured on Discovery Channels culinary and cultural adventure programme,No Reservations,hosted by American author and celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain.Famed for consuming exotic and daring ethnic dishes,Bourdain has savoured nasty delicacies in the past including ant eggs in Mexico,sheep testicles in Morocco and a whole cobra in Vietnam.He was in Kerala recently to sample the states delicacies.The most disgusting thing I have ever eaten is a Chicken McNugget and I am pleased that there were no Western fast-food outlets in Kerala, said Bourdain,who has visited nearly 90 countries. Saloni aka Gangubai to co-host Chak Dhoom DhoomThe dance show Chak Dhoom Dhoom to be aired on Colors has roped in little star Saloni Daini as a co-host with Pravesh Rana. Saloni catapulted to fame enacting a kaamwali Gangubai in the standup comedy show Chhote Miya. Says the little celebrity,I will be focussing on trying to make the contestants comfortable by making them laugh and not letting them get too nervous. But most of all I am looking forward to have fun and learn a few jhatkas and matkas myself. Maybe I could even get some tips from Saroj aunty and Ahmed uncle! The show is being judged by Saroj Khan,Ahmed Khan and Vindu Dara Singh. Chak Dhoom Dhoom is a nationwide talent hunt for a Junior Dancing Star. Little wonderAs Dance India Dance(DID) draws to a close on Zee,they have announced a talent hunt for kids DID Little Masters. The auditions are currently on and they have found a promising contestant in a five-and-a-half year old girl Ananya Kuru. Ananya is incredibly talented and has completed the seven year course in Bharat Natyam at the age of five! She has already performed her arangetram,the final test of the dance form. So impressed were dance masters Remo and Geeta with the little girl that they wanted to take her home for a day. DID Little Masters is scheduled to be aired from April 30. Sandip Soparkar and Farah Khan will be judging the show.
