For the last many days,a storm was brewing only in the trendy teacups of Delhis hoity-toity that Fendi was going to bring down the sleek and seductive Maserati GranCabrio and unveil it at Delhis DLF Emporio. It would be an enviable event for men certainly,I was told.
Why pray? Well, men are into cars just as women are into mens wallets, an enlightened fashionista advised me. Cant say I agree, arent we all a bit tired of so what do women read these days? or Do women also like leather belts uff .
But lets inch back to the Maseratiwhich wears Fendi seat covers. I missed the event but we were represented by Divya A,my colleague in the Delhi features team. Heres what she has to say:
Made in Italy,Twice Over
WHAT do the rich and famous in this part of the world covet the most? It is anybodys guess luxury cars and European designer brands. And what if both came together? Wednesday evening was one such evening in the Capital,as one of the most fashionable cars in the world literally speaking Maserati GranCabrio Fendi was unveiled at DLF Emporio in Vasant Kunj.
The limited edition car, born out of a union of two iconic Italian luxury brands Maserati and Fendi which was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September last year was brought all the way to India from Maserati headquarters in Modena to showcase it to Delhis swish-set.
Maserati, which started selling in India only one year ago, will be producing only 50 such cars per year globally. The car comes in a bespoke body colour a special dark grey with a radiant golden finish which has been named as Grigio Fiamma Fendi. Besides the pièce de résistance, also on display at the Fendi boutique was the Fendi Maserati limited edition Selleria luggage and accessories, specially designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi.
Francois Ganes,General Manager-Middle East and India,Fendi; Ugo Astuto,Head Chief of Mission,Italian Embassy; and Andreas Deges,Director Marketing,Maserati India, unveiled the limited edition masterpiece over a cocktail evening. In attendance was a surprising small fraction of the glitterati including Naveen and Raseel Ansal, designers Ritu Beri and Gaurav Gupta, and Penguin publisher Chiki Sarkar, among others.
