Saying that the state police chief is himself involved in the extra-judicial killings in the state,Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Monday said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir cant trust any government-appointed commissions to probe the unmarked graves. The current police chief is himself involved in the extra-judicial killings, Geelani said at a press conference at his Hyderpora residence.
When Kuldeep Khoda was DIG Doda-Udhampur range,he was directly involved in the killing of three civilians in Kishtwar. When the police chief himself is involved in fake encounters, how can the people trust the police. The Indian Express had reported that a police inquiry report had indicted the then DIG Khoda, who is now the Director General of Police,in the killing of three civilians Fazal Hussain,Farid Hussain and Mohammad Hussain in Bhaderwah in 1996.
The Hurriyat hardliner also rejected the idea of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and called for a United Nations-appointed fact-finding mission to probe the unmarked graves. We categorically reject the commission by the name of Truth and Reconciliation Commission. A system that is founded on lies, deception and suppression, how can it provide justice to the people, said Geelani.
