Bypoll today,JD(U) ahead

The seat had fallen vacant after the death of JD (U) minister Hari Prasad Sah.

As the Laukaha Assembly segment in Madhubani goes to bypoll on Wednesday, the JD (U) looks slightly ahead in the race with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar putting all his force to retain the seat.

RJD chief Lalu Prasad,on the other hand, has campaigned massively to work out his old MY (Muslim-Yadav) combination in his bid to unsettle the NDA cart. The seat had fallen vacant after the death of JD (U) minister Hari Prasad Sah.

That the NDA is not taking the battle lightly can be gauged from the fact that besides Nitish and Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi,16 ministers and 21 NDA MLAs campaigned there.

The RJD has fielded principal of a local college Mukhtar Ahmed, who had contested the 2005 Assembly polls unsuccessfully on a Congress ticket. The Congress candidate this time is Ram Sunder Tarait.

Soren using black money,says JVM

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha president Shibu Soren on Tuesday came under attack from the rival Jharkhand Vikas Morcha, which accused him of using “black money” to influence voters in Ramgarh Assembly constituency on the eve of the bypoll there.

“Guruji (Soren) is leaving nothing to chance to win the seat. He had used huge sums of money power to buy the voters,” alleged Jharkhand Vikas Morcha’s Sudhkar Singh.
